Working Principle: The transformers scale high-level current and voltage signals from the power system down to levels the relay electronics can process. The module’s enhanced diagnostics use advanced algorithms to verify that analog signals are operating normally, detecting faults such as open circuits, short circuits, or signal corruption. The scaled signals are digitized and transmitted to the UR relay CPU, which uses them for protection functions (overcurrent, differential, over/undervoltage) and metering. Data and diagnostic status are viewable on the front-panel LCD or via EnerVista UR software. Installation Requirements:
- Open the hinged front panel of the UR relay to access the module rack
- Insert the UR8LH module into the designated CT/VT slot
- Connect CT and VT inputs to the rear terminal blocks per schematics
- Configure ratios using EnerVista UR software
- Verify firmware version 4.0x or higher is loaded with a compatible new CPU
Usage Notes:
- As a new CT/VT module, pair UR8LH with a new CPU to avoid hardware mismatch errors
- Ensure firmware version 4.0x or higher is installed for compatibility
- Verify CT and VT ratio settings match the installed instrument transformers
- Use EnerVista UR software to monitor diagnostic status and signal integrity
- Periodically verify measurement accuracy using a relay test set
