Description
GE VMIVME-4150 Technical Specifications:
- Channel Count: Up to 16 fully isolated analog output channels.
- Isolation Rating: ±1000V optical data coupling isolation per channel.
- Resolution: 12-bit (Legacy GE version) up to 16-bit (Modern Merlin Embedded MVME4150 replacement).
- Output Types: Software-selectable voltage (±10V, ±5V, ±2.5V, 0-10V, 0-5V, 0-2.5V) and current (0-20mA, 4-20mA, 5-25mA).
- Load Capability: 20 mA for full ±10V voltage output range.
Functional Features:
- Complete Channel Isolation: Each channel possesses independent power and ground planes, preventing cross-channel interference and protecting the VME backplane from field transients.
- Transient Protection: Voltage outputs are protected indefinitely up to ±20V and against transients up to ±50V.
- Static Readback: Features static readback data registers to simplify program control and verify actual output states.
- NVRAM Calibration: Stores individual calibration tables for each output type in non-volatile memory.
Application Scenarios:
- Motor drive control and variable frequency drive (VFD) interfacing.
- Process control in environments with severe ground loop issues.
- Power electronics testing and high-voltage actuator control.
Performance Parameters:
- Voltage Output Accuracy: 0.05%.
- Current Output Accuracy: 0.08%.
- Environmental Tolerance: Operating temperature from -20°C to 85°C; storage temperature from -40°C to 125°C.
- Shock Resistance: 25G on all axes for 11ms.
Material Composition & Structural Characteristics:
- Form Factor: 6U VME conforming to IEEE 1014-1987 (VME C.1).
- Power Requirements: +5V @ 400mA, +12V @ 125mA.
- Cooling Options: Available in standard convection-cooled or advanced conduction-cooled variants for extreme environments.
Working Principle: Digital control data is passed through high-speed optical couplers to the isolated secondary side of each channel. The isolated digital signal is converted to analog via dedicated DACs and precision amplifiers. The independent isolated power supplies for each channel ensure that no electrical path exists between the VMEbus and the field wiring.
Installation Requirements:
- VME Slot: Requires a standard 6U VME slot with appropriate P1/P2 connector alignment.
- Software Configuration: Output types and ranges must be configured via software registers before applying field loads.
- Wiring: Field connections are made via the rear or front I/O connector; ensure proper strain relief and shielding.
Usage Precautions:
- Direct Replacement: The modern MVME4150 serves as a direct drop-in replacement for the obsolete GE VMIVME-4150 with enhanced 16-bit resolution.
- Isolation Integrity: Do not externally tie isolated channel grounds together, as this defeats the purpose of galvanic isolation.
- Lifecycle Support: Legacy GE versions are obsolete; ensure access to long-term support and calibration services for replacement units.
