Honeywell 51202330-200

Product Introduction This Data Hiway interface board connects TDC3000 process managers to the plant Data Hiway high-speed communication bus, enabling data exchange between multiple process managers, operator stations and historian systems. The board supports peer-to-peer communication across the plant control network, and is a standard communication component for TDC3000 distributed systems.

Structural Features Standard Eurocard dimensions. Front panel dual BNC interfaces for A/B bus connection. LED array displays dual bus communication status. 75 Ω impedance-controlled trace layout matches coax cable. Metal shielded front panel.

Working Principle The board receives process data from the process manager over the VME backplane bus. Data is packaged into Data Hiway frames, transmitted over the dual redundant coax links to other nodes on the plant network. Inbound data from the network arrives over the links, unpacked and sent to the process manager. The link monitoring circuit continuously checks signal quality on both buses; active bus failure triggers automatic switchover to the backup bus. All transmitted frames pass CRC verification, corrupted data triggers automatic retransmission.

Installation Requirements Insert the board into the dedicated Data Hiway slot in the process manager. Connect A and B bus coax cables to corresponding BNC interfaces. Install 75 Ω termination resistors at bus segment endpoints. Set unique board node address in process manager configuration software. Verify both bus links show normal lock status after power-up.

Usage Notes Missing bus endpoint termination causes signal reflection and packet loss. Node address must not duplicate other Data Hiway devices; collision causes bus-wide communication failure. Loose BNC connectors cause bus dropout; tighten connectors during routine maintenance. Bus segment length must not exceed 2 km; longer runs require bus repeater units.
