Honeywell 620-3030

Product Introduction This backup battery module is the power source for IPC620 CPU real-time clock and SRAM data retention during rack power loss. It maintains real-time clock operation and process variable retention register data, preventing loss of time-stamped event logs and held process values during power outages. It uses a field-replaceable lithium-thionyl chloride battery.

Description

Honeywell 620-3030

Technical Specifications

  • Output voltage: 3.6 V lithium-thionyl chloride battery
  • Nominal battery capacity: 1200 mAh
  • Data retention time at room temperature: 10 years
  • Operating temperature: -20 °C to +60 °C
  • Interface: Plug-in socket mates to CPU board battery holder
  • Reverse polarity protection: Integrated reverse blocking diode
  • Low voltage alarm threshold: 3.0 V

Functional Features Seamless switchover to battery supply after main power loss, maintains SRAM and real-time clock operation. Low voltage monitoring circuit generates battery warning alarm in CPU diagnostic interface when voltage drops below threshold. Reverse polarity blocking diode prevents circuit damage from reversed battery installation. Field-replaceable battery design, only the cell needs replacement after depletion, no need to replace the whole module. Fully insulated battery packaging, prevents short circuit and electrolyte leakage from contacting CPU board.

Application Scenarios IPC620 CPU real-time clock backup during power outage Process variable SRAM data retention power supply Spare part replacement for aged batteries causing parameter loss in legacy IPC620 systems Clock and parameter hold during extended cabinet maintenance shutdowns

Performance Parameters

  • Standby operating current: ≤5 μA
  • Battery self-discharge rate: ≤1% per year
  • Switchover response time: ≤1 ms, no data interruption
  • Battery service life: 5–8 years at 25 °C ambient
  • Low-temperature capacity retention: 80% of rated capacity at -20 °C

Material Composition Lithium-thionyl chloride battery cell ABS flame retardant insulated battery housing Gold-plated pin socket connector Reverse blocking diode, current limiting protection resistor Insulated foam cushion layer

Structural Features Small plug-in rectangular form factor, inserts directly into CPU board battery socket. Housing silk-screened with battery model, polarity and replacement date label. Gold-plated socket contacts, long-term use without oxidation. Fully insulated housing, prevents accidental short circuit against adjacent board components.

Working Principle During normal rack operation, the CPU board is powered from the cabinet supply, and the battery module remains in standby. When main rack power is lost, the board circuit automatically switches to battery power, supplying the SRAM and real-time clock. The battery voltage monitoring circuit continuously measures battery level; when voltage drops below 3.0 V, it sends a low-battery warning to the CPU diagnostic interface, prompting maintenance personnel to schedule replacement before unexpected power loss causes data loss.

Installation Requirements Install and remove the battery module only when rack power is off. Insert into the socket per silk-screen polarity marking, reversed installation will not supply power. Record battery replacement date in the diagnostic interface after installation, set next replacement reminder. Store spare batteries in a cool, dry environment, avoid high temperature exposure.

Usage Notes Depleted battery causes real-time clock and SRAM variable loss after power outage, replace promptly. Dispose of spent lithium batteries per hazardous waste regulations, never discard in regular trash. Avoid high-temperature soldering when replacing battery cells, prevent board heat damage. Do not short circuit battery positive and negative terminals, this causes overheating and electrolyte leakage.
