Working Principle

The T3150A interfaces between the Regent controller internal bus and external serial devices. It converts parallel data from the controller backplane into serial data streams for RS232 or transmission. Incoming serial data is converted back to parallel format and placed on the internal bus for processor access. The module manages baud rate generation, data framing, and handshaking protocols autonomously.

Installation Requirements

  • Install in a designated communication slot in the Regent chassis
  • Connect serial cables using shielded twisted-pair wiring
  • Configure baud rate and protocol parameters via system software
  • Ensure proper grounding of cable shields at one end only
  • Verify revision level compatibility with existing system modules

Operating Precautions

  • Verify correct baud rate settings before establishing communication
  • Use shielded cables in electrically noisy environments
  • Do not exceed maximum cable length specifications
  • Monitor communication status LEDs for fault indication
  • Replace modules with identical revision levels when possible
  • Disconnect serial cables before removing or inserting the module
