KONGSBERG RSER200-4
Technical Specifications Brand: KONGSBERG Model: RSER200-4 Power Supply: 24 VDC Serial Ports: 4 independent serial channels Serial Standard: RS232 / RS485 configurable Fieldbus: Kongsberg proprietary control bus Isolation: Galvanic isolation on each serial channel Protection Grade: IP20 cabinet mounted Operating Temperature: -25°C ~ +70°C Humidity: 5% ~ 95% non-condensing
Functional Features Four independent configurable serial communication channels for connection with external marine equipment. Galvanic isolation for each serial channel to block ground loop interference. Protocol conversion transfers serial device data to Kongsberg automation bus. Continuous communication diagnostic, report link failure to central controller. Front panel LED indicates power, bus status and serial port link status. Hot-swap function supports online replacement in redundant system. Designed for marine shock, vibration and salt fog environment.
Application Scenarios Ship engine room equipment serial data integration, offshore platform third-party instrument connection, marine flow meter and flow computer data acquisition, vessel generator controller data interface, auxiliary machinery monitoring system communication gateway.
Performance Parameters Stable serial data transmission at configurable baud rate. Channel isolation prevents surge damage to main automation rack. Communication link fault detected quickly and reported to alarm station. Strong resistance to marine electromagnetic noise. Reliable continuous communication in salt mist offshore environment.
Material Composition Front panel: black flame retardant ABS plastic. PCB: FR4 multilayer PCB with conformal coating for salt mist protection. Core components: serial communication chip, opto-isolator, bus processor. Backplane connector: gold plated edge connector. Indicator: SMD LED.
Structural Features Rack plug-in card form factor, rear gold finger connects to system backplane bus. Four serial channels have independent isolation and signal circuit. PCB separates serial signal circuit and backplane bus circuit. Plastic latches on both sides for easy installation and removal.
Working Principle External marine devices connect to module RS232/RS485 serial ports. Serial data enters channel isolation circuit and serial processor. The module converts serial protocol data into internal bus data format and transmits to Kongsberg central controller over backplane fieldbus. Data from central controller converts back to serial format and sends to external devices. The module monitors serial link status continuously and reports communication failure to alarm system once link interrupts.
Installation Requirements Insert module into rack slot under power-off state and lock latches. Use shielded twisted pair cable for serial communication wiring, single point grounding. Serial cables must be separated from high-power cables. Configure serial baud rate, parity and protocol for each channel after installation. Keep cabinet well ventilated for heat dissipation.
Usage Notes Check serial port signal level to avoid overvoltage damage to communication chip. Inspect cable terminal tightness periodically under vessel vibration. Wear anti-static wristband during module replacement. Verify serial communication parameters after installing new module. Prevent cabinet condensation to avoid circuit fault.
