Description
Schmersal AZM160-22YP
Technical Specifications Solenoid locking type safety switch; 2 normally open and 2 normally closed contact configuration; rated control voltage matched with safety circuit; locking force meets machine guard retention requirement; contact type is positive opening safety contact; operating temperature -25°C to +60°C; IP67 protection rating.
Functional Features Mechanically lock the safety guard door when the solenoid receives energized signal, and prohibit guard opening during dangerous machine operation. Release the mechanical lock after the safety control system cuts off the solenoid power supply and machine movement stops. Provide positive opening safety contacts to feed back guard door position and locking status to safety relay or safety PLC. Prevent tampering and improper bypass of the safety guard function. Support coded actuator matching to reduce wrong actuator triggering risk.
Application Scenarios Automated machine safety guard interlock, robot cell protective door locking, packaging machinery safety fence, CNC machine tool protective door safety control, automated assembly equipment safety guarding.
Performance Parameters High mechanical locking force for heavy safety guard doors; positive opening contacts comply with machine safety standards; high resistance to mechanical shock and vibration; long mechanical operation life.
Material Composition Switch housing is reinforced glass-fiber thermoplastic; internal contact parts use silver alloy; solenoid coil adopts high-temperature resistant enameled wire; actuator and locking bolt are hardened stainless steel; sealing components are oil-resistant elastomer.
Structural Characteristics Compact rectangular main switch body and separate coded actuator piece. The actuator mounts on movable safety guard door, and the main switch body fixes on machine frame. Internal solenoid drives locking bolt to engage with the actuator for mechanical locking. Multiple cable entry ports are reserved for safety circuit wiring.
Working Principle When the machine runs in dangerous state, the safety control system energizes the built-in solenoid, the solenoid pushes the locking bolt into the actuator groove to lock the guard door. After the machine stops and hazardous energy dissipates, the control system de-energizes the solenoid and the locking bolt retracts to allow opening of the safety guard. The built-in positive opening contacts change state to transmit guard position and locking status to the safety control circuit.
Installation Requirements Mount the main switch body on the fixed machine frame and mount the coded actuator on the movable guard door. Adjust installation position to guarantee smooth insertion of actuator into switch head without mechanical jamming. Wire safety contacts and solenoid coil to safety relay or safety PLC according to safety circuit drawing. Test locking function and contact signal feedback after installation.
Precautions for Use Do not use the switch as a mechanical stop for moving loads. Do not modify the locking bolt and actuator structure arbitrarily. Conduct regular visual inspection and function test of the safety switch. Ensure the safety control circuit implements safe shutdown logic before releasing the guard lock.
