Working Principle: The D20ME continuously samples the process variable via its universal input. The microprocessor compares this value to the desired setpoint and executes the PID algorithm to calculate the required control effort. The output stage then modulates the connected actuator (heater, valve, or motor) to minimize the error. The auto-tune function injects a controlled perturbation to identify process dynamics and optimize PID constants.
Installation Requirements:
- Panel Cutout: Ensure the panel cutout matches the specified dimensions for a secure IP65 seal.
- Wiring Separation: Route high-voltage power cables separately from low-voltage signal and communication wires.
- Thermocouple Wiring: Use properly compensated thermocouple extension wires to prevent measurement errors.
Usage Precautions:
- Auto-Tune Safety: Never initiate auto-tuning on a process that could become unsafe if the output reaches 100%.
- Sensor Type: Verify that the configured input type in the menu matches the physically connected sensor.
- EMI Protection: Ensure the RS485 communication cable is properly shielded and terminated to prevent data corruption.
