EPRO PR6423/011-110 + CON021

Product Overview
The EPRO PR6423/011-110 + CON021 is a non-contact eddy current displacement and vibration measurement system. The PR6423 probe measures the distance between the probe tip and a conductive metal surface, while the CON021 transducer converts the probe signal into a linear analog output. The system is widely used for shaft vibration, shaft position, eccentricity, and axial displacement monitoring on rotating machinery.

Working Principle
The transducer supplies a high-frequency excitation signal to the probe coil. When the probe tip approaches a conductive metal surface, eddy currents are induced in the target material. These eddy currents change the effective impedance of the probe coil. The change varies with the distance between the probe tip and the target surface. The transducer detects this change and converts it into a linear DC voltage. The DC component represents the average gap, while the AC component represents dynamic vibration. The system is factory-calibrated so that the output voltage is proportional to displacement within the specified linear range.

Installation Requirements

  • Install the probe into a clean threaded mounting hole or bracket.
  • Set the static air gap according to the factory calibration curve.
  • A typical installation gap for is around 1.0 mm, but the exact value must be confirmed from the calibration sheet.
  • Adjust the gap until the DC output voltage reaches the specified mid-range value, typically around -10 V to -12 V.
  • Use shielded cables and keep signal cables separated from power cables.
  • Ground the cable shield at the transducer end only to avoid ground loops.
  • Mount the transducer in a dry, ventilated control cabinet.
  • Ensure the total system cable length matches the calibrated length.
  • Verify supply voltage polarity before energizing the system.

Precautions for Use

  • Do not mix probes, cables, and transducers from different calibrated sets without re-verification.
  • Do not use the standard in explosive atmospheres unless an approved intrinsically safe barrier is used.
  • Keep the probe face clean and free from oil, metal particles, and deposits.
  • Avoid installing the probe near keyways, oil holes, or surface discontinuities.
  • Do not exceed the rated supply voltage.
  • Verify gap voltage after mechanical locking to prevent shift during tightening.
  • Perform periodic calibration checks to maintain measurement accuracy.
  • Refer to the official EPRO calibration certificate and installation manual for the exact /011-110 configuration.
