Description
Foxboro SY-60301001RB
Technical Specifications
- Product Type: FBM Interface Cable.
- Connector: Foxboro FBM-specific backplane connector.
- Signal Type: Mixed signal (analog, discrete, and power).
- Shielding: Individual pair shielding plus overall shield.
Functional Features
- Mixed Signal Integrity: Separates power and signal paths to prevent noise injection.
- Keyed Connectors: Prevents mis-mating with other cable types.
- Flexibility: Stranded conductors allow for routing in tight cabinet spaces.
- Durability: Rated for thousands of mating cycles.
Application Scenarios
Used to connect every FBM in a Foxboro I/A Series cabinet to its corresponding field wiring terminal block.
Performance Parameters
- Contact Resistance: <20 milliohms.
- Operating Temperature: -40°C to +85°C.
- EMI Shielding Effectiveness: >40 dB.
Material Composition
Tinned copper conductors with color-coded PVC insulation. Overall shield is aluminum-polyester foil with a drain wire. Connectors are glass-filled thermoplastic with gold-plated brass contacts.
Structural Characteristics
A multi-conductor cable with a molded backplane connector on one end and a breakout or connector on the other. The cable is often flattened or rounded for easy routing. Includes a strain relief boot at the connector.
Working Principle
The cable maps each pin on the FBM backplane connector to a specific wire in the harness. Power pins carry 24VDC to the terminal block, while signal pins carry 4-20mA or discrete signals to and from the field. The shielding protects the signal wires from noise generated by the power wires and external sources.
Installation Requirements
Align the keyed connector carefully before insertion; do not force. Secure the cable to the cabinet structure to prevent stress on the connector. Route signal wires separately from power wires if possible.
Usage Precautions
- Inspect connector pins for bending or corrosion before installation.
- Ensure the cable is not twisted or kinked during installation.
- Replace the cable if the shielding is damaged or the jacket is compromised.
