GE EG1033AC

Product Overview The GE EG1033AC is a flame detector amplifier module designed for use with the Honeywell LG/EG flame monitoring system (GE cross-reference part). This system detects ultraviolet (UV) radiation emitted by hydrocarbon flames and produces output signals to indicate flame presence or flame loss conditions. The EG1033AC provides relay contact outputs and is qualified for use on General Electric gas turbines and compressor systems, delivering proven performance for over 35 years in power generation applications.

Key Features

  • UV Flame Detection: Detects ultraviolet radiation in the 180–260 nm range, providing solar blind operation that ignores sunlight and infrared sources.

  • Relay Contact Output: SPDT relay contacts provide robust switching capability for flame presence/flame loss indication.

  • High Sensitivity: Geiger Mueller-type phototube sensor delivers extremely fast response times.

  • Wide Voltage Support: Operates on 20–35 VDC, compatible with various control system power architectures.

  • Long-Distance Operation: Supports sensor-to-amplifier distances up to 330 meters (1000 feet).

  • Harsh Environment Qualified: Certified for extreme temperatures from -40°C to +176°C.

Performance Parameters

  • Flame Present Response: 0.1 seconds typical, ensuring rapid detection of successful ignition.

  • Flame Loss Response: 0.2 seconds maximum, enabling immediate protective action upon flameout.

  • Power Consumption: 10 watts maximum under normal operating conditions.

  • Relay Capacity: Suitable for direct interface with turbine control system logic and safety circuits.

Certifications and Approvals

  • CE Mark: EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU

  • ATEX: EEx d IIA T3 or EEx d IIC T3, Zone 1 and 2

  • Factory Mutual: Approved for explosive atmospheres (Class I, Div 1 and 2, Groups B, C, D)

Applications

  • General Electric gas turbines (power generation)
  • Industrial compressors
  • Gas-fired boiler systems
  • Refinery and petrochemical burners
  • Any application requiring reliable flameout protection

Installation Requirements

  • Mount using four 0.20-inch diameter bolts on 6.00 × 2.00 inch centers.
  • Ensure proper power supply within 20–35 VDC range.
  • Maintain proper shielding and grounding practices for sensor cables.
  • Each amplifier can power two sensors and provides separate output signals for each.

Special Notes

  • The EG1033AC is the recommended replacement for obsolete EG1033AB models (which used 115 VAC).
  • When replacing EG1033AB with EG1033AC, a 20–35 VDC power supply must be provided in place of 117 VAC.
  • Not recommended for GE/NP DLE (Low-NOx) gas turbines.
