Description
GE THN3361SS
Technical Specifications
- Poles: 3-Pole.
- Frame Size: Standard industrial frame.
- Trip Type: Thermal-Magnetic.
- Mounting: Bolt-on or plug-in compatible.
Functional Features
- Overload Protection: Thermal element protects against sustained overcurrent conditions.
- Short Circuit Protection: Magnetic element provides instantaneous trip for fault conditions.
- Manual Switching: Serves as a local disconnect switch for maintenance.
Application Scenarios
Deployed in industrial panelboards, motor control centers, and commercial power distribution systems.
Performance Parameters
- Interrupting Rating: High short-circuit interrupting capacity.
- Trip Curve: Standard inverse-time thermal and instantaneous magnetic characteristics.
- Mechanical Life: Thousands of make/break operations.
Material Composition
High-strength thermoplastic housing, silver-alloy contacts, bimetallic thermal elements, and electromagnetic trip coils.
Structural Characteristics
Compact molded case design with toggle handle, trip indicator window, and standardized line/load terminals.
Operating Principle
Under normal conditions, current flows through closed contacts. Overload currents heat the bimetallic strip, causing it to bend and trip. Short circuit currents generate magnetic force that instantly trips the mechanism.
Installation Requirements
Install in accordance with NEC and local codes. Torque terminals to manufacturer specifications. Ensure adequate clearance for arc flash protection.
Usage Precautions
Never operate beyond rated voltage or current. Test trip function periodically. Replace if breaker has tripped on a major fault.
