GE UR6CH

Product Introduction: The GE UR6CH is a digital input/output module for the GE Multilin UR (Universal Relay) series. It enables the UR relay to communicate with auxiliary devices by providing digital inputs and outputs. This specific unit provides eight Form-C digital outputs. Form-C outputs are single-pole double-throw (SPDT) contacts, with one common point connected to one normally closed (NC) contact and one normally open (NO) contact. Form-C can switch between these two outputs, hence commonly called “transfer” contacts.

  • Compatible with UR relay health diagnostics

Material and Structural Characteristics:

  • Industrial-grade PCB with high-quality relay contacts
  • Plug-in module form factor matching UR relay chassis
  • Front-panel accessible through hinged relay front cover
  • Robust construction for substation and industrial environments

Working Principle: The module receives digital output commands from the UR relay CPU over the internal backplane bus. The CPU energizes or de-energizes the eight Form-C relay coils based on protection logic and FlexLogic equations. Each Form-C contact transfers between its NO and NC positions, controlling connected auxiliary devices such as breaker trip coils, alarm panels, and interlocking circuits. Digital inputs (where applicable) sense external contact states and report them to the CPU. Installation Requirements:

  • Open the hinged front panel of the UR relay to access the module rack
  • Insert the UR6CH module into the designated digital I/O slot
  • Connect field wiring to the rear terminal blocks per schematics
  • Configure output assignments using EnerVista UR software
  • Verify contact operation during commissioning

Usage Notes:

  • Verify the module’s contact form (Form-C) matches the application’s wiring requirements
  • Ensure the UR relay firmware version is compatible with the module
  • Use EnerVista UR software to configure and monitor output states
  • Periodically test output contacts for proper operation
  • Replace only with an identical UR6CH module to maintain configuration integrity
